Wow! This student-designed 901 Mural at Snowden School was completed yesterday. We were honored to fund this project coordinated by the middle school art instructor, Hal Harmon, and supported by Snowden’s principal, Jamie Stallsmith. Art in the Making is back! Kim Warnette, visual arts instructor at Rozelle - The Creative and Performing Arts Optional School, and Angela Less, a RAF Board Director, have began meeting with sculptor and Professor of Art at the University of Memphis, @greelymyatt, to begin planning master classes for the upcoming school year. 3rd, 4th & 5th grade CAPA students at Rozelle will work with Greely to design and create a quilt of recycled and reclaimed wood, combining the students' interpretation of the quilt code and computational code. The instillation will be the inaugural project for Rozelle's STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) Studio, set to launch with the 2019-2020 school year. Art in the Making activities with master artists are provided by an ArtsFirst grant from the First Tennessee Foundation and ArtsMemphis, along with community investment support derived from the proceeds from the annual fine arts festival, RiverArtsFest.
Meet Ariel, our very first RAF intern! A Memphis native and rising senior at Scripps College, Ariel will be assisting with digital marketing, including both website and social media management. We are thrilled to have her helping us for the summer.
